2008 has been an auspicious year for the tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Bhutan celebrated 100 years of its hereditary monarchy and crowned its 5th King, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck who is guiding the country as it has become a constitutional democracy and entered an exciting new era in its history.
To honor these events, Bhutan Postal Corporation, in conjunction with Creative Products International,
announced the May 2008 release of its Commemorative Stamp Issues. For this occasion, the country of Bhutan chose to produce a unique first-of-a-kind CD-ROM stamp that delivers, in sight and sound, the message of this countrys most historic year.
Creative Products International is also showcasing historic philatelic products in another timeless category that is called Rare & Vintage Collection Sets.
The president of Creative Products International, Frances Todd Stewart, is the daughter of the late Burt Kerr Todd, whose legacy includes his creative efforts on behalf of Bhutan to produce a series of extraordinarily unique stamps, including the popular record stamp in 1973, still treasured by collectors today.
