The first brush stroke, textured stamps went into distribution in 1968. This printing process employs embossing to match as precisely as possible the original artist’s brush strokes.
This issue of eight famous masterpiece stamps was released April 17, 1972
along with two, limited quantity, Souvenir Sheets. The airmail Souvenir
Sheet, pictured here, was issued February 28, 1972 features stamps of four paintings.
