  Biography Frances Todd Stewart
President Creative Products International
   
 

Frances Todd Stewart is President of Creative Products International  (Pittsburgh, PA, USA),a product design and custom manufacturing company with more than three decades of experience in Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Stewart is known for her innovative designs and creative solutions for manufactured products designed for the book, stationery, giftware, house wares and pet markets. A market visionary, she has the expertise in manufacturing preparation and supervision to bring her innovative products to market for her customers. Stewart also currently holds seven patents. Two of her products have won awards: Parent’s Choice Award for a children’s book and Top 10 Cat Toy for a motorized scratching post.

She has worked in Asian countries including Bhutan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka, creating and importing manufactured goods from the Far East to the US and exporting to Canada and the European Union.

Stewart was the first woman and youngest member ever appointed to the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corp. in Washington, DC, after being nominated by President Reagan and confirmed by Senate majority. She served for four years.

Stewart also is a former member of the Sri Lanka Trade and Entrepreneurial Mission as well as the Indonesian Trade and Entrepreneurial Mission. Both missions were sponsored by the US Trade Department and the US Agency for International Development.

For a decade, she was a member of the Committee of 200, a professional organization of high-powered women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders. She also is a past member of the Young President’s Organization.

In 2008, Stewart is partnering with Bhutan to create the world’s first documentary CD-ROM postage stamps with web portal, that will carry video messages celebrating the tiny country’s long-time commitment to environmental and cultural preservation, the 100th anniversary of the monarchy, and Bhutan’s new democratic government. This innovative venture is part of her family’s relationship with the country that spans more than 50 years.  Her father, Burt Kerr Todd, is believed to be the first American to visit Bhutan, back in 1951.

As a native of Western Pennsylvania, Stewart has served on the board of Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. She also has served the Pittsburgh branch of the Small Business Administration as a member of the advisory board, chair of the committee of management assistance and international trade and delegate to the National Small Business Conference.
Stewart also is a member of Rotary of Pittsburgh, District 7300, the 20th Rotary chapter formed in the world.
